TOUR ITINERARY OF JAUNPUR

                                JAUNPUR ITINERARY

Day-1

Arrived at Vns Airport Flight No.SG-2173 (09:05) and transfar to hotel Raghuvanshi and after lunch half day sightseeing in Jaunpur.

Started from -
Khalis Mukhlis Masjid(The Khalis Mukhlis Masjid in Jaunpur,India is known to have been built by and during the reign of Sultana Ibrahim in 1470 A.D.The Sultana named the Masjid after his chief administrators,Malik Khalis and Malik Mukhalis).
Lal Darwaza Masjid(Lal Darwaza Masjid,Jaunpur got its name from the fact that the gateway at the entrance of the mosque was painted  red in color from the very beginning and still remains so.Bibi Raji also established  a religious school in the area surrounding the Lal Darwaza in Jaunpur for all the local Muslim residents.The school(or Madrasa) was named Jamia hussainia and its exists till date.
Shahi Bridge(the bridge is built across the Gomati River.The bridge comprises ten arched opening that are supported on huge and massive piers.Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day-2
After breakfast full day sightseeing of Jaunpur.

Trilochan Mahadev Temple(the temple of Trilochan Mahadev has been an ancient place for worship of Hindus.The Jaunpur Trilochan Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Zoological Museum(All the speciments of animals are well preserved and display meticulously along with labeled informations alongside the exhibits. The jaunpur Zoological Museum is open from 10 in the morning till 5 in the evening.
Archaeological Museum(among the various exhibits in the Archaeological Museum,Jaunpur,the once that need a special mention are the sculptures of the ancient times.The museum is open from 10:30 in the morning till 5:15 in the evening on the all working day.
Atala masjid(being the first Mosque to be built after the independence of Jaunpur from the Islamic caliphate in India,the Atala Mosque was given royal treatment setting up a new monumentality to the traditional jami'.
Botany Museum(the exhibits the various plants and fossils of plant that have some unique characteristics.All these items have been well preserved and stylishly displayed, hence arousing interest in the visitors to know about them.
Jami Masjid(the entire structure of Jami Masjid, Jaunpur stand on a plinth that is six meter high.The double arched,pylon-shaped gate at the entrance presents a majestic sight to the onlookers.

              ARCHAEOLOGICAL  MUSEUM

Based in the city of Jaunpur,the Archaeological museum,Jaunpur is the storehouse of numerous archaeological evidences that enthrall the tourists who come from various part of the world to see it.

The  Archaeological Museum in Jaunpur India, is under strict supervision of the famous T.D.College in Uttar Pradesh.

Among the various exhibits in the Archaeological Museum,Jaunpur,the ones that need a special mention are the sculpture of ancient times.These carvings done mostly in stone or terracotta make you admire the architectural finesse possessed by the artists in those day.

The archaeological museum of Jaunpur also displays a number of ancient coins which served as a medium of exchange in their respective time periods.One also gets to see the gradual evolution of the coins in terms of the components from stones to metal moreover,in stones.one can witness how the coins in gold made way for silver and then the modern day coins,where nickel is the prime component.

The Archaeological Museum,Jaunpur does not charge any entry fee from visitors.The museum is open from 10.30 in the morning till 5.15 in the evening on all working days.The Jaunpur Archaeological Museum remains closed on all public holidays and one the days when the T.D.College closed for vacations.Photography inside the museum is strictly prohibited.



BEST TIME TO VISIT JAUNPUR

Jaunpur is a beautiful destination which offers a number of attractions to the tourists. The attractions of this place include museums and historical monuments. Jaunpur witnesses extreme summer and winter season. The best time to visit the place is from November to January as the weather remains cool and pleasant during these months. It is the perfect time for sightseeing and travelling around the place.

                              Jaunpur in monsoons (July-September)


Jaunpur receives heavy rainfall from July to September. The weather remains humid and wet during this season. It is recommended to avoid visiting the place at this time.


              
Jaunpur in winters (November- February)


The winter season in Jaunpur begins with the coming of November and it lasts till February. The weather remains cool and pleasant at this time of the year. It is the best time to visit places such as Atala Masjid and Lal Darwaza Masjid. 

                          Jaunpur in summers (March-June)

The summer season arrives in Jaunpur with the coming of March and it ends with June. The temperature during this season ranges between 25°C to 40°C. As the days are hot, tourists can explore some attractions in the evening including Shahi Bridge, Jama Masjid and Shahi Qila.

शाही पुल, जौनपुर


इसे मुगल पुल, अकबरी पुल और मुनीम खान पुल के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इसे जौनपुर प्रांत के गवर्नर मुनीम खान ने मुगल बादशाह अकबर के शासनकाल में बनवाया था। 


1568 से 1569 के बीच गोमती नदी पर बनाए गए इस पुल की डिजाइन अफगानी वास्तुकार अफजल अली ने तैयार की थी। यह पुल मुगल वास्तुशिल्प शैली में बने जौनपुर के उन कुछ महत्वपूर्ण स्थलों में से है, जिनका अस्तित्व आज भी बचा हुआ है। 

इस पुल का निर्माण विशाल खंभो पर किया गया है और पानी के बहने के लिए 10 द्वार बनाए गए हैं। पुल से इतर इस पर खंभों पर टिकी अष्ठभुजीय आकार की गुंबजदार छतरी भी बनी हुई है। इस छतरी में लोग खुद को पुल पर दौड़ती वाहनों से सुरिक्षत रख कर नदी की बहती धाराओं का विहंगम नजारा देखते हैं।

शाही पुल जौनपुर शहर से 1.7 किमी उत्तर की ओर है और आज भी इसका इस्तेमाल यातायात के लिए किया जा रहा है।

Atala Mosque, Jaunpur

The Jaunpur Atala Masjid was built by Sultan Ibrahim (1402–1436), Sharqi Sultan of Jaunpur on foundations laid during the reign of Tughluq Sultan Firuz Shah III (1351–1388). Construction started in 1377 and was completed in 1408. A  Madarsa named Madarsa Din Dunia is housed in central courtyard of the mosque. Atala mosque build by Ibrahim Shah before breaking the Atala devi Temple build by Vijay chandra.




The Mosque is on the List of Monuments/Sites of Archaeological Survey of India of Directorate of Archaeology, (U.P.) and on list List of Monuments of Archaeological Survey of India.
William Hodges in his book Select Views in India mentions this mosque 

About Jaunpur

 Jaunpur historically known as Sheeraz-e-Hind having its historical dates from 1359, when the city was founded by the Sultan of Delhi Feroz Shah Tughlaq and named in memory of his cousin,Muhammad bin Tughluq, whose given name was Jauna Khan.In 1388, Feroz Shah Tughlaq appointed Malik Sarwar, an eunuch, who is notorious for having been the lover of Feroz Shah Tughlaq's daughter, as the governor of the region. The Sultanate was in disarray because of factional fighting for power, and in 1393 Malik Sarwar declared independence. He and his adopted son Mubarak Shah founded what came to be known as the Sharqi dynasty (dynasty of the East). During the Sharqi period the Jaunpur Sultanate was a stro
ng military power in Northern India.
